About William Aitken

About The Provider

William Aitken, MD, FACC, FAHA, is a board-certified cardiologist at Alta Cardiology Clinic in Las Vegas, specializing in general cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease prevention, and noninvasive cardiac imaging. Fluent in English and Spanish, he is dedicated to delivering personalized, evidence-based cardiovascular care to a diverse patient population.

Dr. Aitken has a special interest in using advanced, noninvasive diagnostic tools, including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology imaging, to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of heart conditions. His clinical expertise enables him to identify cardiovascular disease early and develop individualized treatment plans that support heart health and overall well-being.

A strong advocate for preventive medicine, Dr. Aitken believes that many forms of cardiovascular disease can be prevented through proactive management of risk factors, healthy lifestyle changes, and appropriate medical treatment. He works closely with patients to identify their health goals, assess their cardiovascular risk factors, and develop practical strategies for achieving long-term heart health.

Beyond traditional cardiovascular care, Dr. Aitken is deeply interested in the link between environmental factors and heart disease. His research focuses on how social and environmental exposures influence cardiovascular health and shape health outcomes across diverse populations. In particular, he has studied the impact of the natural environment on heart disease and uses those insights to help patients recognize modifiable risk factors that can improve their overall health and quality of life. He is passionate about understanding how where we live, work, and spend our time can affect cardiovascular wellness.

Dr. Aitken is committed to building strong partnerships with his patients through education, communication, and shared decision-making. He believes that empowering patients with knowledge of their heart health is essential to making informed choices and achieving lasting positive outcomes.

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Aitken enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors. Whether rock climbing, hiking a new trail, visiting a National Park, or traveling to experience different cultures around the world, he values opportunities to stay active, connect with nature, and discover new places.
