Timbre Backen, DO, is a general and trauma surgeon committed to delivering exceptional care to patients with urgent and complex surgical conditions. Her clinical interests include emergency general surgery, trauma care, quality improvement, medical education, and community outreach.

Dr. Backen is particularly passionate about robotic emergency general surgery. She values the opportunity to bring the latest advances in surgical technology to patients in acute care settings, finding it exciting and rewarding to offer innovative treatment options when they are needed most.

Committed to delivering evidence-based care, Dr. Backen approaches every patient encounter with decisiveness, compassion, and respect. She believes that excellent outcomes result from strong teamwork and patient-centered care, especially when the stakes are highest.

Having grown up just outside of Lafayette, Dr. Backen is grateful for the opportunity to return to the area and give back to the community that shaped her. She is honored to serve the region she calls home and to care for patients and families during some of their most challenging moments.

Outside of work, Dr. Backen enjoys hiking, attending live music events, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé.
