The diagnosis of a life-threatening disease requiring an oncology referral is frightening but Dr. Yates knows there’s good reason for people to have hope. At Intermountain Health, Dr. Yates’ calm, reassuring demeanor helps him partner with each patient to guide them - mentally and physically - through this challenging stage of their health journey, which is often overwhelming and scary.
Dr. Yates received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University then completed residency at University of Kentucky and a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Wisconsin. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology.

in the 5 years Dr. Yates has been my oncologist I have never felt rushed by him. He has always been very positive as he walks in the door. Makes me feel as though I'm his only patient and not in a rush to get out the door to the next patient as so many doctors do. Sorry he's semi retiring.
