About Shanon McIntyre
About The Provider
I am a speech language pathologist with 28 years of experience working in a variety of settings, including school-based, outpatient hospital settings, ASD schools, and as the owner of a private clinic. I received my undergraduate education at the University of Central Florida and completed my graduate work at Florida International University.
I began my career in Florida, working within the school setting and an after-school private clinic. I gained experience with young ASD children and secured a position at the Ernie Els School for Autism. This was a dream job, allowing me to use my creativity within the classrooms I was assigned to. I worked closely with OT/BCBAs and teachers, providing push-in services. I learned a great deal from collaborating with other professionals at this placement.
After leaving Florida, I moved to Grand Junction, where I continued my work with the ASD population within D-51's significant needs Autistic classrooms. I eventually expanded my work to serve speech and language needs in pre-kindergarten to middle school-aged children. My curiosity about outpatient rehabilitation led me to a position at Family Health West. There, I furthered my knowledge in AAC, ASD, social skills intervention, sensory processing disorder, behavior, and feeding through close collaboration with other professionals.
In 2022, I joined the outpatient rehabilitation team at St. Mary's Life Center, where I continue to gain experience and knowledge. My husband and I enjoy a peaceful life in Glade Park, where we can stargaze, hike, run, bike, snowshoe, and explore among the wildlife. We have five rescue dogs that I love running with weekly. In addition to my outdoor hobbies, I also enjoy painting.
