About Shannon Bostrom

About The Provider

After graduating with an undergraduate degree in sociology, I wasn't sure what career path to take. I ended up traveling across the U.S., taking on various seasonal jobs before becoming a ski instructor for 4 and 5-year-olds and then a preschool teacher. This eventually led me to return to school for communication disorders. I attended MSU in Denver to complete the necessary undergraduate courses before attending Eastern Washington University in Spokane, WA, where I received my master's degree in 2017.
I now work with children from preschool through 11 years old, addressing a range of speech sound and language delays. My area of preference is speech sound disorders, including severe phonological disorders and children who are highly unintelligible. Seeing kids make progress and meet their goals is my ultimate motivation. I love finding the underlying cause of a child's communication delays and supporting them in a way that can provide significant change. I enjoy learning about executive functioning skills and the role they play not only in communication but in our daily lives.
My hobbies include horseback riding, dirt biking, reading, and hiking. I grew up in Maine but have lived in Colorado for 14 years.
