About Scott S. Short
About The Provider
Dr. Scott Short is an attending surgeon in the Division of Pediatric General, Thoracic, and Neonatal Surgery at Primary Children's Hospital. He has a particular interest in minimal access surgery, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), and pediatric surgical oncology. In addition, his daily clinical practice includes all common pediatric surgical problems including inguinal hernias, undescended testicles, hydroceles and feeding access (gastrostomy tube placement). He is a member of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and the Children's Oncology Group. Treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in children with emphasis on enhanced recovery is also an area of special interest in Dr. Short's practice and academic work. Dr. Short sees patient's at Primary Children's Hospital and at Primary Children's-Riverton. One of his goals is to work with parents to optimize the surgical experience and shorten hospital stays for children. Dr. Short's clinical interests also include the following conditions: Inguinal hernia, Umbilical hernia, Undescended testicle, Hydrocele, Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder), Gastrostomy (placement of a stomach tube), Appendectomy (removal of the appendix), Vascular access (ports and central lines), Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Chest wall deformities (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum), and Pediatric Oncologic surgery (Wilm's, Neuroblastoma, and adrenal tumors/pancreas surgery).
