Ryan A. Slater, MD

Ryan Slater, MD, is a sports medicine physician at Intermountain Health's McKay-Dee Hospital Sports Medicine in Ogden, Utah. He supports patients in Ogden, South Ogden, and surrounding communities. He specializes in non-surgical treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries and his other medical interests include management of concussion, stress fractures, and youth overuse injuries. He most enjoys performing ultrasound-guided procedures for the shoulder, knee, and hip, as ultrasound allows for greater precision and enhanced safety, which can lead to improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Slater approaches orthopedic and sports medicine care with individualized attention, taking time to listen, conduct thorough evaluations, and providing education to patients for collaborative and informed decision-making. As a former collegiate athlete whose career ended due to injury, he understands the physical and emotional toll injuries can take. That experience fuels his passion for helping others recover and return to the activities that matter most to them. He is also a devoted husband and father and treats his patients the way he would want his own family to be treated - with compassion, honesty, and a shared decision-making approach.

Outside the clinic, the Utah native enjoys spending time with his family, vacationing and attending BYU sporting events. He also likes movies and reading historical fiction.
