Rachel A. Gaffney, MD

Dr. Rachel Gaffney, attended college and medical school at University of North Carolina, and moved to Denver for residency training at University of Colorado. She enjoyed several years of private practice before joining the Saint Joseph Hospital Faculty in 2003.

Serving as medical director of the Seton women's Center, she assists the team in delivering obstetric and gynecologic care, paying special attention to the medically underserved women in our community. She educates the residents about medical coding and billing, referrals and consultation, and ensures that the clinic experience prepares graduating residents to provide ambulatory care. The clinic is an ideal location for quality improvement projects; past projects have included improving the postpartum follow up for women with gestational diabetes, and ensuring timely follow up of abnormal pap results. She enjoys explaining complicated concepts to patients and has special interest in pelvic pain evaluation and treatment, and in high risk obstetrics.

When she?s not at the clinic, look for her hiking a trail, soaking in a natural hot spring, or motorcycling to a remote fishing stream.
