About R. Shane Day
About The Provider
Dr. Day attended medical school at Des Moines University on a Health Professions Scholarship Program through the Air Force and graduated in 1999. He served first as a flight surgeon at Ellsworth AFB, assigned to a B-1 Bomber squadron. He subsequently completed residencies in Aerospace Medicine and Occupational Medicine and a fellowship in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He also completed a Master of Public Health degree as part of his residency. He then went on to serve at different levels of leadership in the Air Force including hospital commander with Air Force Special Operations Command. He was then selected to attend the National War College in our nation’s capital to complete a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy. His last assignment in the military was Director of the National Center for Medical Intelligence. During his 22-year career in the Air Force, Dr. Day lived on four continents and practiced medicine on six continents. He is still trying to get to Antarctica! He retired from the military in 2022 as a Colonel and joined Intermountain Health as Medical Director for Utah Valley Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Day is an avid SCUBA diver, off-road motorcycle rider, skier, snowmobiler, and enjoys anything outdoors with his family.
