About The Provider
Monica Tung, MD, is a dual board-certified interventional cardiologist specializing in treating coronary artery disease and complex heart valve conditions, including aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve disease. With expertise in minimally invasive, transcatheter therapies, she helps patients navigate treatment options for both coronary and structural heart disease with confidence and clarity.
Dr. Tung believes that every patient has a unique vision of what a healthy heart should enable them to do. For some, that means returning to favorite outdoor activities. For others, it means keeping up with family responsibilities, traveling, or simply living without symptoms that limit daily life. Her approach to care begins with understanding those individual goals and then developing a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan to help patients achieve them while maintaining the highest standard of cardiovascular care.
Because heart disease and the prospect of a procedure can feel overwhelming, Dr. Tung is committed to ensuring her patients fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Whether discussing coronary artery disease, aortic stenosis, mitral valve disease, tricuspid valve disease, or other structural heart conditions, she takes the time to explain not only what she recommends but also why. She carefully reviews the details of minimally invasive transcatheter procedures, alternative treatment approaches, and the potential risks and benefits of each option. Just as importantly, she believes that sometimes the best recommendation is no procedure, and she is dedicated to helping patients make informed decisions that align with their values and goals.
Dr. Tung fosters an environment where patients feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in their care. She believes no question is too basic and would rather answer a question twice than leave a patient uncertain. Her goal is for every patient to feel educated, empowered, and supported throughout their heart care journey.
Outside of work, Dr. Tung enjoys exploring the beauty of western Colorado. She spends her free time running, hiking, and cycling throughout the Grand Valley and appreciates the active lifestyle the region offers.
