Michael D. Dr. Traynor earned his AB from Princeton University and MD from the University of North Dakota, followed by a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed general surgery training at the Mayo Clinic and a fellowship in pediatric general surgery at the University of Utah.
Professional Roles
Dr. Traynor is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. He serves as the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Hypoplasia Clinic and as a sub-specialist in the Esophageal and Airway Center at Intermountain Children’s Hospital. His multidisciplinary work focuses on improving outcomes for children with rare and complex congenital conditions.
Research and Global Health
Dr. Traynor’s research interests include esophageal atresia and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. He has been active in global health research and teaching including a multinational project on inguinal hernia in Sierra Leone and Uganda.
Personal Interests
Outside of medicine, Dr. Traynor enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling. He and his wife, Antinea, are proud parents of two boys.
