Michael A. Matergia, MD

Dr. Matergia grew up in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and went to University of Pennsylvania for his bachelor's degree. He attended Harvard Medical School and completed his internship and residency at Saint Joseph Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Global Health at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Matergia became a doctor because he wanted to pursue a career of service to both individuals and the community. He was drawn to family medicine for the opportunity to develop long term relationships with patients, while having a positive impact on the health of families and entire communities.

Dr. Matergia values being a partner to his patients in achieving their best health and quality of life. ?I believe that all patients deserve to receive care by a physician that will partner with them in achieving their goals.?

Together with his wife, Dr. Matergia co-founded a non-profit dedicated to providing innovative health and education programs in the rural Eastern Himalayas. He frequently travels to Nepal and India in support of this work.

Outside of work, Dr. Matergia enjoys skiing, cooking, reading and hanging out with friends and family.
