About Marty Haraway
About The Provider
My name is Marty Haraway. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1987 from The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). Although I have worked in numerous areas over the past 37 years in acute care, home health, skilled nursing home settings, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, the majority of my focus and expertise has been in the neurological arena, including strokes, SCI, Parkinson's Disease, brain injuries, concussions, visual impairments, and MS. I am also trained as a Functional Capacity Evaluator.
We moved to the Grand Valley in 1996 with the goal of working at St. Mary's Medical Center as we were beginning to extend our family. In my early years at St. Mary's, I worked in acute care and rehabilitation from 1999 to 2004. I transitioned to the Life Center in 2004 and have worked as a neurological OT as well as a general OT since that time. In addition, for the past 12 years, I have completed Functional Capacity Evaluations on an as-needed basis. I have always been motivated by the OT foundation of maximizing and adapting a client's skill set to perform at their most safe and capable abilities for quality of life as this relates to home, work, recreation, or retirement. I find it very rewarding to help my clients reach their goals and highest potential, which is so vital to confidence and self-worth.
I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, a big hub for NASA, space, and rockets, and the awesome Alabama Crimson Tide! Like most folks that live in Colorado, I was drawn to everything outdoors, including hiking, camping, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, and skiing, not to mention all of the wonderful festivals Colorado has to offer. My husband and I are approaching 37 years of marriage and have raised two young adults. My husband is a Family Nurse Practitioner in town. We look forward to our eventual retirement and traveling.
