He allowed me to come in for a short visit in order to allay some of my concerns. I thought that was very accomodating and surprising that he made himself so accessible.

Dr Merkley had already read my file when I arrived. He laid out a care plan that addressed my issues and concerns, and answered all questions I had about next steps. He was patient and knowledgeable. He listened to me and helped me move forward with my treatment.

He is a masterful surgeon. He is compassionate and kind. We appreciate his candor and honesty. His nurse, whose name we do not recall, is likewise a master of her profession and exhibits the same qualities of caring and kindness.

I received very professional attention, which gives me a lot of confidence and peace of mind.

Dr. Merkley provided excellent care and truly wanted to help. He answered my questions and took the time I needed. Having said that, I still feel rushed in my visits. He comes in the room and stands right by the door, as if he is in a hurry to leave. There is no sit-down conversation. I feel I have to provide super quick answers and he's ready to move on to the next question. I have to be assertive and ready to ask things. It's not a lack of care, but a style thing like he is there to do the minimum and move on to another patient. I still trust his knowledge and ability, and he provided excellent care in the end.

He was kind and listened to my questions and then answered them the best he could. He explained the procedures he did before doing them and he was gentle and not rough like some doctors can be. After the visit was over he made me feel like he cared about helping me and that I have I fighter chance in beating the cancer.
