Maria M. Martinez, NP

Maria Martinez is a nurse practitioner and hospitalist at Intermountain Health's American Fork Hospital and Utah Valley Hospital. As a hospitalist, Maria cares for patients throughout their hospital stay. She coordinates treatment, manages medications, and works with specialists, nurses, and patients’ primary care providers to keep their care connected. She's in the hospital every day — listening, answering questions, and making sure patients understand their plan of care from admission through discharge.

As a provider, Maria believes in taking a holistic approach to care, which means she cares for the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

Maria looks for the root cause of each health problem and works with her patients to find ways to prevent it in the future. She also takes time to teach her patients about their health. She wants them to feel empowered to take part in decisions about their care.
