Maria Borrero, MD

Maria Borrero, MD is a hematology oncology provider at Intermountain Cancer Center – Alta View in Sandy, Utah. She supports patients in Sandy, Murray, Holladay, Riverton, and surrounding communities, treating breast cancer, gynecologic cancers, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and more.  She views her role as an oncologist as a lifelong mission and is excited to be back in Utah, where she can offer personalized, state-of-the-art cancer care.
Dr. Borrero firmly believes that every patient is unique and rejects a one-size-fits-all approach. She is dedicated to building strong relationships with her patients, taking the time to understand their values to guide the best possible treatment decisions.
Dr. Borrero, originally from Colombia, has long been passionate about studying cancer health disparities, survivorship, and quality of life of all patients, particularly as it relates to the Hispanic community. Over the past decade, her research has centered on creating culturally tailored interventions to improve access to cancer screening and treatment for underserved populations. Additionally, she has developed multilingual programs to optimize the quality of life for cancer patients and has expertise in breast cancer. 
In her free time she likes to spend time with her husband and two toddlers, hike, interior design, cook, and travel.
