About Margit S. Lister
About The Provider
My practice focuses on gynecological care, with a special interest in the evaluation and non-surgical/minimally invasive treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding. I also provide contraceptive management, with a particular emphasis on IUD and Nexplanon placement, as well as in-office procedures for abnormal paps and uterine bleeding. In addition, I enjoy helping women navigate the symptoms and risks associated with the transition through menopause, and I have expertise in ovarian cysts and chronic vulvar problems.
My name is Dr. Margit Lister. I'm an OB/GYN physician, and I work at Intermountain Layton Parkway Women's Health. The associations that I'm a part of are the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is our main certifying group, and then The American Medical Association, and the Utah Medical Society. I started my education at the University of Tampa. I got a college and educational scholarship to play basketball, and finished my Exercise Physiology degree at the High State University, and then went on to medical school at Right State University in Dayton, Ohio. So, I actually applied to physician assisting school, and when I was talking to people, they were like, "Why don't you become a doctor?" The more I thought about it, I was like, "You know what? I can. I have what it takes to do that." So I decided to apply, and I got accepted, and never looked back. I ended up in obstetrics and gynecology mostly because while I was going through medical school, I really liked the surgery aspect of things. I really wanted to take care of women. I wanted to help them through some of their struggles, to give them support and motivation to achieve the dreams that they want to go for, and to reach the goals that they want to do, whatever they may be. I get to deliver the babies, be apart of that aspect of a woman's life, and then see them throughout their entire lifespan. My favorite patient to work with is a motivated individual. And I think the thing that makes what I do fun is when you actually connect with a patient and make a difference with what's going on in their life, and they come back and they say, "You know, I did it! You know, I had what we talked about and it worked!" When they come back and they tell me stuff like that, and to know that you made such a positive difference in somebody's life is pretty amazing.
