Lex S. Allen, MD

Dr. Lex S. Allen is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Southern Utah Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Cedar City, Utah. Born and raised in the small towns of Southern Utah, Dr. Allen is proud to serve the region where his roots run deep.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Utah University before earning his medical degree from the University of Utah. He then pursued orthopedic surgery training at the University of New Mexico and completed an advanced fellowship in hand, shoulder, and elbow surgery in Brisbane, Australia. This specialized training gives Dr. Allen unique expertise in treating complex conditions of the upper extremities.

For over 10 years, Dr. Allen has been providing trusted, patient-focused orthopedic care. His clinical interests include hand and wrist injuries, elbow and shoulder conditions, fracture management, and sports-related orthopedic issues. Dr. Allen has been nationally recognized for excellence in patient experience, ranking in the top 5% for satisfaction.

In addition to treating patients in the clinic and operating room, Dr. Allen is actively involved in supporting local high school and college athletes throughout Southern Utah. He is passionate about helping people return to the activities that bring them joy—whether it's sports, work, or everyday life.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Allen enjoys spending time with his wife and children, taking in Southern Utah’s natural beauty, and making the most of life in the mountains.
