Kevin E. Larkin, MD

Kevin Larkin, MD, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement, revision surgery, and orthopedic trauma at Intermountain Health's Utah Valley Orthopedics Clinic in Provo, Utah. He especially enjoys hip and knee replacements as they're among the most successful surgeries in modern medicine, and they often improve a patient's quality of life very quickly.

Dr. Larkin believes excellent orthopedic care starts with understanding each patient's goals and helping them choose the treatment that's right for them. When surgery is needed, he gives thoughtful, precise, and lasting care while keeping disruption to his patients' lives as small as possible. He works to do routine joint replacement exceptionally well. When appropriate, he often uses less invasive, muscle-sparing techniques and modern technology such as computer-assisted and robotic systems. He has extensive experience with complex primary and revision joint replacements, as well as fractures around joint replacements. That work has taught him to anticipate challenges and adapt when something unexpected comes up, and it makes him a better surgeon in every case, including routine ones.

His approach is simple. He listens carefully, explains every option in clear terms, and recommends the treatment he would choose for someone he cares about. Above all, he wants his patients to feel well informed, confident in their treatment, and able to get back to the activities that matter most to them.

Before joining Intermountain Health, Dr. Larkin practiced in Utah County. There he cared for patients from across the state and region, from people with routine joint disease to people facing some of the most complex reconstruction challenges. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Larkin grew up in Ogden, Utah. Outside of work, he loves spending time outdoors with his wife and their two children. The family stays active exploring Utah and beyond, whether that means mountain biking, dirt biking, snowmobiling, traveling, or just getting outside and making memories together.
