Katherine Jean Swanson, MD

Katherine Swanson, MD is a maternal fetal medicine and medical genetics physician at Intermountain Health’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists in Murray, Utah. She supports patients in Murray, Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, South Jordan, and surrounding communities, with clinical interest in maternal and fetal genetic conditions, including hypermobility and other connective tissue disorders.

She considers it a privilege and passion to provide care to women and families before and during pregnancy. Her combined training in obstetrics and genetics allows her to focus on the intersection of reproduction and genetic disease, allowing patients with rare genetic conditions to approach pregnancy with as much information as possible.

Dr. Swanson loves caring for people whose pregnancies are complicated by maternal or fetal genetic conditions (or sometimes both!). This allows her to combine her clinical training in both maternal-fetal medicine and medical genetics to care for patients with rare conditions, create comprehensive care plans for pregnancy, and help transition patients to long-term follow up.

Outside the clinic, the Chicago native (and fourth generation Cubs fan), lives with her husband and three kids in Salt Lake. She loves ballet and modern dance, outsider art, red wine, and stinky cheese.
