Karin A. Wollschlaeger, MD

Dr. Karin Wollschlaeger did her undergraduate studies at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, medical school at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada where she played water polo and a rotating internship at the Ottawa General Hospital in Ottawa, Canada. Following this she spent a year in Cambodia working with the NGO 'World Relief' and then started her Ob/Gyn residency at the University of Chicago. This was followed by several years in private practice in Toronto and NY. She then moved into academic medicine at Mt. Sinai in NYC, then Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY followed by Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver where she has been for 8 years.

International mission work is one of her passions and she has done several trips to Ecuador, Peru, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and South Sudan. This has led to the development of an OB/GYN resident, month long Global Health Elective to Arusha, Tanzania. She also enjoys teaching and working with the residents and medical students and is the medical student clerkship site director.

She is developing the 'Resident Research Program' with research lectures and a set schedule with deadlines for each year. This has led to faculty and residents acceptance of abstracts, posters and presentations.She recently graduated from the APGO SES (surgical education scholars) program (2016). Her project was developing a Contraception Simulation Lab for Ob/Gyn Residents at a Catholic Hospital and designed and built a low fidelity abdominal PPTL model.

She has two children, loves the outdoors, downhill and backcountry skiing with her dog, hut trips, cycling, and triathlons. She is also fluent in German.
