About The Provider
Philippines native Dr. Karen Santos Gonzalez grew up in a family of doctors. Ever since she was young, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine and her parents inspired her to become a physician and to dedicate her life to helping people.
At Intermountain Health, Dr. Gonzalez is a family medicine provider and specializes in adult medicine/geriatrics, but she enjoys all types of cases. Her favorite part of being a physician is being able to help people and to make a difference in the lives of her patients. Dr. Gonzalez is devoted to working hard to help her patients as much as she can and is constantly acquiring knowledge so she can be the best provider possible for her patients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Gonzalez likes to sing, read, and travel. Something her patients may be surprised to learn about her is that she was a dancer and did ballet, jazz, and Hawai’ian dance. She also starred on a TV show in the Philippines as a teenager.
Dr. Gonzalez received her bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of the Philippines and graduated as a College Scholar. She received her medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Center in Quezon City, Philippines. Dr. Gonzalez completed a postgraduate internship at the University of the Philippines and received the award as one of the Most Outstanding Interns in Community Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Gonzalez is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is also a diplomate for the American Academy of Family Physicians.
