About The Provider
Julie Mazeika Fernandez is a registered dietitian at Intermountain Health's Primary Children's Hospital in Lehi, Utah. She specializes in pediatric nutrition and is passionate about helping children and families build healthy, positive relationships with food. Julie has a special interest in infant nutrition, disordered eating, and motivational interviewing, and enjoys partnering with patients and families as they work toward meaningful, lasting changes in their health and nutrition habits.
Julie especially values follow-up visits for disordered eating and weight management, where she can explore the insights patients have gained, celebrate progress, and help them continue developing healthy behaviors. She enjoys working alongside families to better understand their goals, navigate challenges, and build confidence around food and nutrition.
She believes that nutrition is a personal journey and a fundamental part of our lives, shaping who we are as individuals, families, and communities. Her passion for pediatric nutrition stems from a desire to help children grow and develop properly while feeling confident and supported in nourishing their bodies, regardless of their nutritional needs. Julie strives to empower both children and caregivers with practical knowledge and skills that promote lifelong health and well-being.
Julie provides care for a variety of nutrition-related concerns, including disordered eating, tube feeding management, growth concerns, celiac disease, and weight management. She performs comprehensive nutrition evaluations, growth assessments, nutrition-focused physical exams, behavioral counseling, and enteral nutrition assessments to help develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Patients and families can expect a collaborative, supportive approach to care. Julie is enthusiastic about helping patients take an active role in their health journey while working with parents and caregivers to balance responsibilities related to nutrition and wellness. She is approachable and open to discussing a variety of strategies to help families succeed while ensuring nutrition recommendations are clearly understood and achievable.
Julie grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and now calls Spanish Fork home. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their two dogs. She loves building meaningful connections with family and friends and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, playing catch, and spending time at Bear Lake. She also values personal growth and self-discovery through mindful movement, meditation, and reading.
