Joshua L Morrell, DO

Joshua “Josh” Morrell, DO, is a board-certified general surgeon at Intermountain Health's Layton Parkway Clinic and Kaysville Creekside clinic. He supports patients in Kaysville, Layton, Farmington, Syracuse, and surrounding communities providing comprehensive surgical care with a focus on improving patients’ health, comfort, and quality of life. He partners closely with each patient to ensure they feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their care.

Dr. Morrell’s clinical interests include hiatal hernia repair, antireflux surgery, abdominal and inguinal hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, pilonidal disease surgery, small intestine surgery, and lipoma and soft tissue mass removal, as well as port placement and removal. He is especially passionate about hiatal hernia repair, where he values the opportunity to help patients find lasting relief and significantly improve their quality of life.

His philosophy of care is to treat every patient like a member of his own family, recognizing that surgery can be a vulnerable time. He focuses on building trust, providing reassurance, and working in partnership with patients to determine the best path forward. He takes time to explore both operative and non-operative options, helping patients choose the approach that best aligns with their goals.

Originally from Kaysville, Utah, Dr. Morrell enjoys staying active outside of work with hobbies such as hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. He is also an avid fan of college sports and the Utah Jazz, and enjoys spending time reading with his wife and their four children.
