About The Provider
Joshua "Josh" Gruhl, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Intermountain Health's Cancer Center at Park City Hospital in Park City, Utah. Dr. Gruhl treats many types of cancer throughout the body, and has extensive hands-on experience with advanced radiation techniques. These include external beam radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), 3D conformal radiation therapy, brachytherapy, skin radiotherapy, and accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI). He is committed to giving his patients the best possible treatments, backed by the latest clinical trials and research.
Dr. Gruhl believes in compassionate, patient-centered care. He takes time to explain each diagnosis so patients can make treatment decisions together with him. He treats the whole person, not just the cancer. That means looking at nutrition, exercise, wellness practices like meditation and yoga, spirituality, and each patient's family and social life. He has a personal interest in how diet and exercise relate to cancer. He believes good nutrition before and during treatment helps patients finish treatment and feel as well as possible along the way. He also helps patients use diet and nutrition to manage common side effects, like loss of appetite, nausea, changes in taste, trouble swallowing, and digestive problems. Dr. Gruhl takes part in many tumor boards, where he works closely with surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other radiation oncologists. Getting input from all of these specialists helps him give each patient the best care.
Dr. Gruhl is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. In his free time, he loves exploring the outdoors with his wife, Abbie, their son, Sven, and their golden retriever, Nellie. He enjoys mountain biking, fly fishing, trail running, hiking, camping, playing ice hockey, cooking, and traveling to new places with his family.
