About Joseph Mims

About The Provider

Joseph “Joe” Mims, MD is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Intermountain Medical Center Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic in Murray, Utah. He supports patients across the Salt Lake Valley dedicated to caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies. He believes exceptional maternal-fetal care is built on evidence, collaboration, and trust, and strives to provide compassionate, individualized care so every patient feels informed, supported, and confident throughout their pregnancy journey.

His clinical interests include complex obstetric surgery, comprehensive placenta accreta spectrum care, and medical education. Dr. Mims particularly enjoys caring for patients facing complex pregnancy conditions because these cases combine advanced medical and surgical care with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for families during challenging times.

Dr. Mims wants every patient to know that he sees himself as a teammate in their care. His primary goal is a healthy parent and healthy baby, and he believes the best outcomes come from open communication, shared decision-making, and working together as a team.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Mims enjoys staying active outside of work through weightlifting, running, hiking, and skiing. He loves spending time outdoors with his wife and their dog, caring for houseplants and home gardens, and reading fantasy novels. He and his wife are also excitedly preparing to welcome their first child.
