About John G. Skedros
About The Provider
Dr. Skedros completed two fellowships after his residency training. These fellowships included: 1. Shoulder and elbow surgery (reconstruction and arthroscopy). This training was completed at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. 2. Total hip and knee replacement surgery. This training was completed at St. Paul Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Skedros focuses on shoulder and elbow problems in his clinic. This inlcudes ELBOW AND SHOULDER ARTHROSCOPY. However, he also works on the general orthopaedic trauma call teams at LDS Hospital and St. Marks Hospital. Hence, Dr. Skedros is adept at trauma surgery of the ankle, wrist, knee, and hip. Dr. Skedros is an avid researcher. He is involved in research dealing with shoulder fractures and the care of common shoulder problems with the use of cortisone injections and physical therapy. Dr. Skedros is also interested in advancing current basic understanding of the cause of osteoporosis. One of his research themes is basic bone adaptation, which finds application in helping understand why bones become brittle with age. Finally, Dr. Skedros has conducted studies on the role of knee arthroscopy in avoiding total knee replacements. About 20% of Dr. Skedros's practice involves knee arthroscopy and non-operative treatment of knees with arthritis or cartilage tears.
