About John D. Morris

About The Provider

John Morris, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Intermountain Health’s Alta View Clinic in Sandy, Utah. He supports patients in Sandy, Cottonwood Heights, South Jordan, and surrounding communities specializing in advanced therapeutic endoscopy and minimally invasive treatments for complex digestive conditions. His clinical interests include pancreatitis, bile duct and gallbladder disorders, and liver-related (endohepatology) care. Dr. Morris focuses on using endoscopic techniques to help patients recover faster, avoid surgery when possible, and improve their quality of life.

In his practice, Dr. Morris combines advanced endoscopic techniques with a compassionate, team-based approach. He believes that the best outcomes come from collaboration—both with patients, who deserve clear communication and shared decision-making, and with colleagues across specialties, who bring unique perspectives to complex problems. He sees every case as an opportunity to restore health, relieve suffering, and help patients feel supported and understood.

As a provider, Dr. Morris wants patients to know that he cares deeply about helping them feel better and regain confidence in their health. Many of the conditions he treats are complex, and his goal is to guide patients through that complexity with clarity, empathy, and honesty.

Dr. Morris hails from California, Utah, and Maryland. Outside the clinic he enjoys time with his family, reading, and exploring new ideas. He values thoughtful conversation and reflection and likes learning about topics that challenge him both professionally and personally.
