James Rohwer, MD

James K. Rohwer, MD, is a physician specializing in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Intermountain Health's Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, where he cares for the smallest and most vulnerable patients. He is board certified in general pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics and board eligible in neonatal-perinatal medicine. He is also clinically proficient in Spanish.

What Dr. Rohwer finds most rewarding is the close collaboration his work allows—partnering with parents and multidisciplinary colleagues to support each infant's growth and development, while empowering families as active partners in their baby's care. This belief is at the heart of his philosophy: "I believe in creating systems that put children first and uplift parents—because every family deserves the opportunity to thrive." His clinical interests include family-centered care that minimizes NICU-related stress for infants and families, enhancing the engagement of fathers and father figures in infant care and bonding, supporting the growth and neurodevelopment of preterm and low birthweight infants, delivery room stabilization and resuscitation of high-risk infants, quality improvement in neonatal care, and bedside clinical teaching with families and medical trainees.

When he is not working in the NICU, the Utah native enjoys spending time with his wife and children, reading, and getting outdoors in the mountains.
