About The Provider
Dr. James Howell is a psychologist in Intermountain Health's Mental Health Integration (MHI) program. He works within the medical setting to provide mental health therapy and consultation alongside your established primary care provider or specialist. MHI treatment is a short-term approach to help manage mental health symptoms that impact quality of life. During treatment, the clinic team communicates with each other to make sure you and your family are getting the care they need. If additional support is needed at the end of treatment with this provider, we will assist with a referral to a long-term mental health provider. Patients needing mental health support who do not have a primary care physician at one of the clinics listed below may contact the Behavioral Health Navigation Line (833-442-2211) for help scheduling with another provider.
Dr. James Howell has been in the mental health field since 2012, and enjoys working with children, adolescents, and their families. He has provided psychotherapy and conducted psychological evaluations in various settings, such as university counseling centers, public schools, and community mental health centers. He has also taught graduate level psychology courses and conducted clinical research at the University of Pennsylvania and Florida State University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Utah Psychological Association. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family and being in the mountains.
