About Ian G. Dorward

About The Provider

Ian Dorward, MD is a neurosurgeon at Intermountain Health’s Utah Valley Hospital – Neurosciences Institute in Provo, Utah. He supports patients in Provo, Orem, Vineyard, Lindon, and surrounding communities, treating neurological disorders of the brain and spine, cervical myelopathy, cervical radiculopathy, spinal deformities, spinal trauma, and more. He is passionate about optimal neurosurgical care geared towards a patient’s goals and expectations.

Patients often wonder if they should see a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon for their spinal condition. Dr. Dorwad has dual training in both neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, helping make that decision easier. His clinical interests include cervical myelopathy and complex cervical spinal reconstruction surgery, spinal deformity surgery, and general neurosurgery.

Dr. Dorward strives to provide every patient with the exact treatment plan he would demand for himself or his family. He also collaborates with patients in the decision-making process for their care. When patients consult him, he learns about their goals, provides education and information about their disease, and works with them to provide the best plan to get them back to living their best life possible.

Outside the clinic, the Colorado native enjoys reading, hiking, arm wrestling, lifting weights, playing chess, investing, and spending time with his family.

I couldn’t say enough good about Dr Dorward, he told it to you directly and gave you options on what you do. He was very involved in my care before surgery and I was grateful for that. It’s hard to hear you have a brain tumor but was comforted knowing I was in good hands.
