About Gregory-Thomas Stanger

About The Provider

Gregory-Thomas Stanger, MD, is a dedicated cardiovascular physician at Alta Cardiology Clinic in Las Vegas, committed to helping patients live longer, healthier lives through prevention, education, and personalized heart care. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Stanger strives to build strong relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in their cardiovascular health journey.

Dr. Stanger's clinical interests include preventive cardiology, cardiac murmurs, and the diagnosis and management of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. He is particularly passionate about preventive cardiology and believes the best cardiovascular event is the one that never happens. Rather than waiting for a heart attack or stroke, he focuses on identifying risk factors early and helping patients take proactive steps to prevent serious complications. He is enthusiastic about emerging therapies and advanced screening technologies, recognizing that although some innovations have not yet become standard guideline-based recommendations, they can provide meaningful benefits for carefully selected individuals.

Another area of special interest for Dr. Stanger is managing patients with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). He values the information these devices provide and uses it to better understand arrhythmias, optimize treatment, improve quality of life, and help patients live longer, healthier lives. As cardiovascular medicine continues to evolve, he remains fascinated by ongoing discoveries in heart rhythm disorders and their treatment.

Dr. Stanger's connection to cardiology is deeply personal. At just two years old, he underwent open-heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart after developing heart failure. After a successful recovery, he went on to thrive athletically, competing as a Division I NCAA Track & Field athlete in both indoor and outdoor events. He specialized in the 400-meter, 800-meter, and 4x400-meter relay, experiences that deepened his appreciation for cardiovascular health, perseverance, and the remarkable resilience of the human body.

Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience as a former heart patient, Dr. Stanger brings empathy, optimism, and a patient-centered approach to every encounter. He is dedicated to helping patients understand their conditions, navigate complex decisions, and develop treatment plans tailored to their health goals and lifestyles.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Stanger enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, watching movies with his family, taking walks with his Goldendoodle, playing soccer, and following the stock market. His commitment to an active, balanced life reflects the philosophy he encourages in his patients: investing in long-term health through prevention, education, and healthy living.
