Eric A. Alta, PHD

Eric A. Alta, Ph.D., is a psychologist at Intermountain Health's Park City Psychiatry and Counseling. He supports patients and their families in Park City, Heber Valley, and surrounding areas, focusing on specialty demographics of emerging adults and athletes. Additional specialty in working with challenges related to career and life transition, attention and hyperactivity, obsessive and compulsive behaviors, anxiety, and depressed mood.

Dr. Alta aims to empower his patients through a strengths-based and practical approach. His work draws heavily from humanistic and third-wave cognitive behavioral therapies and typically involves applied practices for patients to "test" in their lives between sessions. Therapy with Dr. Alta involves addressing immediate symptoms and concerns while building a foundation for increased well-being using core principles of positive psychology. 

Dr. Alta also offers some outpatient-focused psychological assessment services to help inform ongoing care for patients. Assessment services focus on questions related to cognition, attention, personality patterns, emotional/behavioral concerns, and career/aptitude. 

Outside work, the New England native enjoys trail running, backcountry and alpine skiing, making Sunday waffles, and exploring the outdoors with his amazing wife and daughter.
