Dr. Emma Montanez-Lewis grew up in the Philippines. She pursued her Doctor of Medicine at Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines, after which she finished an internship with Cebu Velez General Hospital. Dr. Montanez-Lewis spent the next few years working in a private family medicine practice. She moved to New York City and completed a primary care residency and an infectious disease fellowship with Harlem Hospital Center affiliated with Columbia University School of Medicine. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Montanez-Lewis takes pride in teaching her patients to better care for themselves. In addition to English, she is fluent in Filipino and Bisaya.
Dr. Montanez-Lewis has two sisters who are nurses and another who is a physical therapist. She would have lived and worked as a Christian missionary if she had not pursued her doctorate in medicine.
