About

About The Provider

Elizabeth "Beth" McDonald, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in hospital medicine at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. She enjoys caring for patients and their loved ones through acute illness while balancing chronic conditions and individual needs. Her clinical interests include shared decision-making, complex and multi-system illness, and teaching and mentoring medical trainees.

As a provider, Dr. McDonald believes hospital medicine is as much about presence as it is about diagnosis — treating the whole person with honesty, urgency, and humility, so that even in uncertainty, patients never feel alone in it. She also believes good medicine starts with good communication. Being in the hospital can feel overwhelming, and her goal is to make sure patients always understand what's happening with their care and why.

Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. McDonald earned her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and her medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Utah. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, skiing, snowboarding, oil painting, and cheering on the Packers.
