About Edward R. Anderson
About The Provider
A self-described Air Force brat, Edward Anderson, M.D., FACS, FAAOS, was born in North Carolina but moved 18 times before he attended the Air Force Academy for his undergraduate studies. He received his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, and completed a Residency in Orthopedics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL. He did a Fellowship in Spine Surgery at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and a Fellowship in Orthopedic Traumatology and Adult Reconstruction at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, NV.
Dr. Anderson has spent the last few decades working as a spine surgeon at multiple medical centers, including serving as Chief of Spine Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at the San Antonio Military Medical Center in Texas. In 2024, he joined Intermountain Health from the Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio. He continues to work as an Oral Examiner and Case Reviewer with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
In addition to clinical work, Dr. Anderson has taught at organizations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Military Training Network, and San Antonio Military Medical Center. He presents nationally and internationally on spinal treatments. But his passion is his patients and providing them with comprehensive care.

Married with two adolescent children, Dr. Anderson enjoys hiking, skiing, kayaking, and playing golf.

I am very thankful that Dr Anderson was able to quickly fit me into surgery schedule after previous surgeon had rescheduled me several times, eventually cancelling de to family emergency. Dr Anderson worked hard to make sure my surgery was done quickly and soon after seeing him. I really appreciate the effort he put into accommodating my needs and would recommend to anyone facing spinal surgery.
