Derek R. Larson, LCSW

I am an LCSW that works with people who suffer from mental health issues and concerns such as Depression, Anxiety, anxiety related issues (OCD, Social Phobia, Agoraphobia, etc), PTSD, Substance use Disorders, Personality Disorders, family issues and concerns, and other mental health and emotional issues.

He received his Bachelor of Psychology degree from Brigham Young University and his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah. He generally works with older adolescents or adults utilizing a cognitive-behavioral approach with the understanding that it is important to adapt to each individual client’s needs. He has been with Intermountain Healthcare since 2009 seeing clients on an outpatient basis. He worked for Davis Behavioral Health for 12 years working with individuals with substance use disorders and from 2006 through 2015 as the director of DBH’s Adult Men’s Residential/Day Treatment substance abuse treatment program. He also worked for Adult Probation and Parole for 4 years working with clients in the criminal justice system by helping them transition from jail and prison to the community and address and change their criminogenic thinking and behaviors. He currently also works for the Department of Defense and the Air Force, working with enlisted airmen and soldiers with general mental health disorders and concerns to help them improve and increase their capabilities as members of the military. Derek’s areas of interest and expertise include substance abuse and dependence disorders, depressive and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, and abuse and emotional issues.
