About David W. Stevens

About The Provider

David Stevens, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery (neck and back). He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, fellowship trained in spine surgery and has had advanced training in cervical disc arthroplasty/replacement, anterior and lateral lumbar fusion, and minimally invasive spine surgery techniques. Dr. Stevens received his Bachelors from Brigham Young University and his MD at the University of Texas Southwestern. He then completed his surgery internship, orthopedic surgery residency and combined orthopedic/neurosurgical spine surgery fellowship at the University of Washington / Harborview Medical Center. He feels that “by choosing the right procedure for the right patient, I am able to maximize their opportunity for a successful outcome. When I am able to help someone feel better and/or improve their function I feel deeply satisfied. I am grateful that I have a career that has allowed me to help many people and will continue to provide that opportunity for years to come.” Dr. Stevens is always looking for more efficient ways to get things done. As a surgeon, he is very conservative leading to better outcomes. Being mechanically inclined, and have a talent of understanding how things work, he uses those strengths to help his patients. He is very consistent and loves musculoskeletal anatomy, which makes surgery enjoyable. His family moved to Utah from his home state of Washington when his three daughters were little. He has enjoyed watching them grow up over the last 16 years that they have lived here. In his spare time he enjoys the restoration of antique equipment/vehicles, machining/metalwork, welding/fabrication, climbing, gardening / horticulture, and beekeeping. He enjoys reading many books of many genres and in his book club loves to be introduced to new books and authors to enjoy. He also loves listening to rock and roll music spanning the 70's to the 90's. If he wants to relax, he heads to his shop to fix up some old or damaged item.
