About

About The Provider

Darien Nelson, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician specializing in hospital medicine at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. In her position, she meets with patients already admitted to the hospital, and enjoys challenging cases that help her learn about her patients and give her the opportunity to provide personalized care.

Dr. Nelson's philosophy of care centers around ensuring that she understand and know her patients' physical, emotional, and social needs in addition to providing excellent evidence-based medical care. She strives to treat each patient with empathy and respect while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide efficient, high-quality care that supports recovery and smooth transitions beyond hospitalization.

As the parent of a child with autism spectrum disorder, Dr. Nelson has a particular interest in helping patients with disabilities access the services they need while in the hospital, and she strives to be a voice for underrepresented patient populations.

Dr. Nelson grew up in West Jordan, Utah. She earned her undergraduate degree in honors biology and her medical degree from the University of Utah, and completed her residency at Creighton University at St. Joseph's in Phoenix. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, skiing, reading, crafting, and singing.
