Danielle Groat, PhD

Danielle Groat, PhD is a Senior Statistical Analyst and an Assistant Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Intermountain Health. Her interests center around the application of biostatistics and computational methods to address clinically important questions in acute and critical care medicine. Dr. Groat specialized in the design and analysis of clinical trials, observational studies, and real-world evidence, with a particular focus on reproducible research and rigorous analytic methods. Through interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians, researchers, and data analysts, Dr. Groat seeks to generate evidence that informs patient care and advances learning health systems.

Dr. Groat was born and raised in Utah, left for several years to pursue education and career opportunities, and ultimately found her way back to the mountains she grew up exploring. She  obtained her doctoral degree in Biomedical Informatics at Arizona State University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two teenagers, and their dog and cat. They are often camping, hiking, or exploring the outdoors on dirt bikes or adventure motorcycles. Dr. Groat also loves plants and pollinators, with a particular interest in houseplants, herbs, native pollinators, and vegetables.
