Claire Nelson, MD

Claire Nelson, MD, is a hospitalist at Intermountain Health's Layton Hospital and McKay-Dee Hospital. As a hospitalist, Dr. Nelson cares for patients throughout their hospital stay. She coordinates treatment, manages medications, and works with specialists, nurses, and patients’ primary care providers to keep their care connected. She's in the hospital every day — listening, answering questions, and making sure patients understand their plan of care from admission through discharge. who cares for patients during their hospital stay.

Dr. Nelson trained first in family medicine, which gives her a whole-person view of each patient's health. She chose hospital medicine because she enjoys caring for patients who become seriously ill while also living with several complex, long-term conditions. Dr. Nelson works to understand how each condition affects the others, so she can guide every patient through their hospital stay with thoughtful, coordinated care.
