Christopher S. Awtrey, MD

Christopher Awtrey, MD, MBA, MHCDS is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Intermountain Health Medical Group in Colorado where he is the physician lead for the over 500 Intermountain Medical Group employed providers employed in Colorado. Dr. Awtrey is a Gynecologic Oncologist and served as the Division Director for Gynecologic Oncology as well as the Vice Chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) where he worked for 16 years before coming to Colorado. He attended Medical School at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and went on to complete his residency in Ob/Gyn at the University of Vermont. He completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He received over 10 Best of Boston awards as a Gynecologic Oncologist over his tenure at BIDMC and numerous teaching awards. He has lectured nationally and internationally on utilizing laparoscopic surgery to treat patients with gynecologic malignancies. In his administrative capacity, he has an interest in approaches to alleviating physician burnout and improving the joy of practicing medicine.
