Brittany A. Matsumura, MD

Dr. Matsumura is originally from Bountiful, Utah. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Utah, followed by her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Following her education, she moved to Cooperstown, New York, for one year of internship in Internal Medicine at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital followed by three years of residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Matsumura always loved sports and science and wanted to have a career where she could incorporate knowledge of the musculoskeletal system to help maximize functioning.

"The essence of a good patient-physician relationship relies upon an understanding of the patient's goals, an ability to listen to the patient and their family, and communicate treatment options based upon current evidence-based medicine that will help them to improve their functional independence. The patient should feel well-educated in their options so that they can confidently exercise their patient autonomy to determine the recovery path that best suits them toward improved function."

As a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, Dr. Matsumura enjoys helping patients with physical impairments realize their potential and work toward optimization of their functioning. When she is not at work, Dr. Matsumura enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking and outdoor recreation.
