I do not leave feedback like this lightly, and my intention is not to be mean or unfair. I hope this can be taken as constructive feedback and a learning opportunity. I came to this appointment because I have been experiencing ongoing pain that has significantly impacted my quality of life. I was looking for answers, guidance, and a path toward a diagnosis. Unfortunately, I left feeling that the underlying issue was never truly acknowledged or taken seriously. Throughout the visit, it seemed there was uncertainty regarding what the next steps should be. Despite providing a detailed history and explaining why I believed this was related to a sports injury, that possibility was hardly discussed. Instead, my concerns felt brushed aside with a prescription for Bentyl and little discussion about identifying the actual cause of my symptoms. As someone who also works in healthcare, I believe the well-being of patients and the desire to help them find answers must be taken incredibly seriously. I felt as though my condition was viewed as minor abdominal pain that would simply improve with medication and time, rather than something that has had a significant impact on my daily life. This issue has substantially limited my ability to participate in physical activities without considerable pain. As a very active person, that loss has had a major effect on my quality of life. What was most frustrating was the lack of a clear treatment plan, diagnostic pathway, or guidance regarding what type of specialist might be appropriate. There was no discussion of referrals or additional evaluation unless I specifically brought those topics up myself. I was ultimately left searching for my own sports medicine physician with little to no direction regarding where to go, who to see, or what the next steps should be. I understand that not every diagnosis can be made in a single appointment. However, I expected more effort toward understanding the underlying problem and providing direction on how to find answers. Instead, I left the appointment without answers, without a plan, and without confidence that my concerns were being taken seriously. I hope Dr. Palinka sees this feedback in the spirit it is intended. She was kind, professional, and had good rapport and bedside manner throughout the visit. This is not meant as an attack on her character or profession. Rather, I hope it serves as a reminder that even injuries or conditions that may initially appear minor can have a profound impact on a patient’s life. When there is uncertainty, taking additional time to evaluate those concerns or helping direct patients to the appropriate specialist can make an enormous difference. I left feeling frustrated, discouraged, and unsupported. Every day that I continue to experience this pain serves as a reminder that I still do not know what is wrong, and I did not leave this visit feeling cared for, advocated for, or any closer to finding an answer.

Interaction could be less businesslike. One's warm bedside manner should evolve with age and experience.

Every human being deserves to be treated with a baseline amount of dignity and respect. People know themselves very well & to give them the best treatment you might consider approaching their care as a collaborative effort where they have a different but just as significant kind of knowledge to give as you do. Your patients can feel when you don’t respect them.

Worked with me the same way that my regular doctor does. There's no gap in my care because my doctor had a baby.

Dr Palinka seems very competent as a practitioner but is lacking in bedside manner and empathy based on my experience. Perhaps a longer appointment would have allowed more genuine listening but nothing justifies such a dismissive response as I received.
