About The Provider

Ben Peterson, MD, MPH, is a cardiologist at Intermountain Health’s Cardiology Clinic at Intermountain Medical Center. He supports patients throughout the Salt Lake Valley, diagnosing, treating and preventing disease and conditions of the heart and blood vessels. Dr. Peterson is excited to return home to Utah and join the interventional cardiology and research teams at Intermountain Medical Center.

He studied music at Brigham Young University, where he toured and recorded with the University Singers. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honors, and completed his internal medicine residency at Duke University.

Dr. Peterson then pursued advanced training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, completing fellowships in cardiology, cardiovascular research, interventional cardiology, and structural heart disease. He also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Following fellowship, he served as medical director of the St. Elizabeth Heart and Vascular Research Institute and as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Outside the clinic, he and his wife, Celeste, have five children. He enjoys running and hiking and is an avid pianist.

    "Very Good" is not a high enough rating for Dr. Peterson. You need a rating that says "Outstanding" or, at least, "Top Notch"!
