Ashley Engesser, CNM

Ashley Engesser, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Downtown Clinic - Midwifery & Women's Health in Billings. She is passionate about caring for women at every stage of life and considers it a privilege to walk alongside patients as they navigate some of life's most meaningful and transformative experiences.

Ashley loves both unique and complex cases as well as the "boring" routine ones. A self-described science enthusiast, she is fascinated by the human body and its incredible ways of functioning. Whether helping a patient through a challenging health concern or supporting a healthy pregnancy and birth, she is continually inspired by the human body's resilience, adaptability, and strength.

She became a midwife because she believes every woman deserves to feel informed, heard, and empowered throughout her healthcare journey. For Ashley, midwifery is about more than providing care. It is about helping patients understand their options, supporting them in finding their voice, and empowering them to make decisions that align with their values and goals. From navigating menopause and gynecologic health concerns to growing and welcoming a new baby, she understands that healthcare experiences become deeply woven into a person's life story.

Ashley has a special love for birth, the human spirit, and the unique journeys each individual and family experiences. She feels honored to share in the smiles, tears, triumphs, and challenges that accompany these important moments. Her compassionate approach is grounded in the belief that even life's messy parts can contribute to its beauty and meaning.

A Montana native, Ashley enjoys spending time outside of work with her four children and keeping up with the busy schedules of their teenage years and sports activities. She also loves paddleboarding, river floating, hiking mountain trails, relaxing by the lake, reading a good book, and discovering local coffee shops and live music.
