Anissa R. Avanesyan, RD

Anissa Avanesyan, RD, is a registered dietitian with the Downtown Clinic – Diabetes & Endocrinology, where she is dedicated to helping patients navigate the often challenging and overwhelming world of blood sugar management. She has a special passion for working with individuals who have struggled with their blood sugars or have had negative experiences with healthcare in the past, recognizing that these moments—while difficult—can also be powerful opportunities for meaningful, lasting change.

Anissa is committed to helping patients feel supported and understood as they rebuild confidence in their ability to care for themselves. She finds it especially rewarding to see patients start to feel better and realize that they are capable of doing hard things. Her approach centers on meeting patients where they are, taking the time to understand their unique lifestyles, and working collaboratively to create realistic, sustainable goals.

She strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel safe and empowered. Anissa focuses on long-term behavior change rather than quick fixes, emphasizing balance, flexibility, and overall well-being. She embraces a non-restrictive philosophy—she loves carbs—and does not take a weight-focused approach unless her patients specifically want to address it.

Outside of work, Anissa enjoys spending time with her family, watching reality TV, and exploring her love of food through cooking and trying new recipes.
