About The Provider
Andrea Williamson, MD, is a colon and rectal surgeon at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. She cares for patients across the full spectrum of colorectal disease, treating colon, rectal, and anal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, benign colon and rectal disorders, pelvic floor dysfunction, and benign anorectal disease. She has particular expertise in minimally invasive approaches, including laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and TAMIS. One of the reasons she chose colorectal surgery is the variety it offers—within the same week she may perform colectomies, anorectal procedures, and colonoscopies.
She aims to provide thoughtful, patient-centered care throughout the entire surgical journey, from diagnosis and treatment planning through surgery and recovery. She enjoys the complexity of colorectal disease and the decision-making involved in developing the right plan for each patient, with the goal of delivering expert care while helping patients achieve their best possible quality of life. Beyond the operating room, she is committed to advancing surgical education and improving the quality of surgical care.
Dr. Williamson was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and grew up primarily in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has lived and worked in many places, including Rovaniemi, Finland, where she played professional volleyball before starting medical school, and has come to love the Intermountain West. She is married and has two young boys and a dog. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and outdoor adventures with her family, along with skiing, hiking, running, volleyball, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
