Andrea Barney, RD

Andrea Barney is a registered dietitian at Intermountain Health's Spanish Fork Hospital in Spanish Fork, Utah. She supports patients in Spanish Fork, Springville, Mapleton, and surrounding communities, passionate about helping people build a healthier relationship with food through practical, sustainable nutrition habits. She has a special interest in working with patients who have diabetes and finds it especially rewarding to see individuals gain confidence and make meaningful progress in managing their health through nutrition.

Andrea's approach focuses on nourishment rather than restriction. She encourages patients to ask, "What can I add to my diet to make it more nourishing?" rather than focusing on what they should eliminate. She believes that the foods we eat provide the foundation for how our bodies function and strives to help patients make intentional choices that support overall health and well-being. Her goal is to empower patients with the knowledge and tools they need to make lasting changes that fit their lifestyle.

Her clinical interests include diabetes, celiac disease, weight management, and gut health. She cares for patients with a variety of nutrition-related conditions, including diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Rather than providing rigid meal plans, Andrea focuses on teaching nutrition principles and helping patients apply those concepts to their everyday eating habits. She works closely with each individual to develop realistic, personalized strategies that build on what they are already doing and create sustainable progress over time.

Andrea wants patients to know that she is committed to making nutrition recommendations achievable and practical. She values meeting people where they are and creating a supportive environment where patients feel encouraged, understood, and confident in their ability to improve their health.

Originally from Bentonville, Arkansas, Andrea enjoys running, hiking, reading, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
