Lawrence Keith Gates, MD

Dr. Lawrence Gates is a gastroenterologist at Intermountain Health’s Budge Clinic in Logan, Utah. He supports patients in Cache Valley, Rich County, Box Elder County, and surrounding communities treating inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatic disease, muscular abdominal wall pain, and more.

Dr. Gates believes that compassion is pointless if you don’t know what you’re doing. He’s passionate about lifelong learning and dedicated to always making his best effort to help his patients, always open to seeking a second opinion when necessary.

Dr. Gates earned his medical degree from Duke University – College of Medicine, completed is residency at Duke University Hospital, and is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Gates was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan but was raised in Logan, Utah. Outside the clinic he enjoys skiing, reading, learning languages, watching Great Courses lectures, cooking, playing the cello, exercising, and participating in church. He met his wife while at school, where she was a librarian at Duke University. His two daughters are very accomplished both in their education and community service.
